9VeilMaid - Broken Smiley faces β Another last month song
Tinylog and GmCapsule problems β I started trying to use gmcapsule and have been attempting getting tinylog working. Whenever I go to my url/tinylog.gmi there is an error and on the server it gives me File "[mylocation]/tinylog.gmi" in line 70 in module page_number = int(os.getenv('QUERY_STRING')) ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: '' If I set the value to 1 or 2 for example I can access it (obviously not correctly). I can get to the editor but can't submit, delete, or startβ¦
html2gemtext β Yesterday evening, while messing with improving the display of Markdown documents in Rogallo, I managed to nerd-snipe myself... [https link]
Fitting Gemmail into Misfin request β Question about the Misfin(B) spec. I am writing my own server and client for run and ran into a question: Spec says requests in Misfin are single line formatted: misfin://<MAILBOX>@<HOSTNAME><SPACE><MESSAGE><CR><LF> But Gemmail is a multi line format. So how does that work? And how does Misfin servers know abouyt the message's MIME type to know to parse Gemmail or nor?
Transparent Lock Screen Hack for KDE
hey guys! so basically, i got a haiku vm, but then i remembered... haiku has lagrange! so, i went to [https link] haikudepot to check what version of lagrange they had and it was... 1.17.6. i thought to myself, "wouldn't it be cool if i somehow got lagrange 1.20.9" (the latest version of lagrange as of writing) "on haiku?" so i took on the adventure of updating the haikuport responsible for lagrange, and what do you know... updating was one rename away... EXCEPT! i had a few problems withβ¦
Offline, browsable archives of capsules β I've been exploring different ways to have an offline, browsable "capsule-in-an-archive". Think having a downloaded copy of @JBananna's TLDR archive, my XKCD collection, or even an entire Subspace from Bubble! I considered Gempub, but technically Gempub only supports gmi, txt, PNG, and JPG files. So... maybe? But maybe a generic ZIP could work. Many browsers support browsing a ZIP file directly. I see if a few issues, but I don't know if they reallyβ¦
Rogallo v1.7.0 β I spent a bit of time cleaning up the internals, now that there's multiple supported protocols. This paves the way for a smoother experience if/when I add any others. I also made some improvements to browsing local Gemtext files, which should make it even easier to preview the source of a capsule before pushing it out into the wild. [https link] [gemini link]
Integrated Media Player β A long time ago I wrote a browser extension that would scan for audio URLs in the web pages you visited, list them within a tooltip and allow you to add them to a playlist. The original manifest v2 version was called Extereo, but I endend up abandoning it. I vibe-coded a new one called Audini that I use every day. Over time, the web has become more hostile to these kind of applications. Content distribution is becoming more and more gated and sites will not exposeβ¦
udp or tcp? just a short question cuz the spec says no state is kept but doesnt mention any specific protocol
Mouse Scroll Wheel Reversed by Latest Update β So my Xubuntu box has just finished a biggish update, and I find myself scrolling the wheel the wrong way. My muscle memory insists that rolling the wheel down pulls the scrollbar down, which scrolls the text up as I read. It seems counterintuitive to push the wheel up to get to the bottom of the page. And yet, that is what my computer now expects. But it is possible that I am just nuts. [A few minutes later] Luckily easily fixed with theβ¦
Angel Aetherine Light β An Angel Aetherine in a photo of clouds I took. Please enjoy!
Tutorial or Howto to install Misfin (Type B and C?) on FreeBSD β I have to admit, I'm a bit late to the party, but I have my difficulties to figure out how to set up a Misfin Type B and Type C server in general and on FreeBSD in particular. I have my difficulties to gather together all neccessary information, because it seems to be scattered all over different places and the support for the different types (probably only Type B and C) is another problem. It would really be good if there is someβ¦
solderpunk made the mercury protocol document but i think it removes the parts of gemini that make it special. 1. tls certificates instead of u-name/passwords. if account details leak it will change nothing because this bbs for example doesnt even use passwords. tls certificates isntead of u-names and passwords give people more independence over their data safety. 2. without tls you wouldnt be guaranteed that the data you requested came from who you thought it came from. so the transportβ¦
Where are you all? β I just started playing around with Gemini after growing ever dissatisfied with the larger net or Corpo-Net if you will. Just wanted to know where everyone was connecting from and if you wanna share, why are you also hanging out here. -h2n0 o7
SmolServe v1.0.0 β I've released v1.0.0 of SmolServe, a little multi-protocol small web server aimed at helping with testing and documentation. [https link] [gemini link]
Hello everyone,I'm an Android developer and I'm currently building the Smolnet browser for Android devices. I'm reaching out to ask if anyone has test links for these protocols:scroll://, titan://, [guppy link] scorpion://, mercury://?
data streaming in gemini is so cool, radios for example im listening to the hashnix radio and i can tell that lagrange doesnt really know how to handle it lol but the fact that it actually works and is practically working too is so cool. i dont really know how it works, many gemini requests in a row? one big request that never ends and clients parse it as it goes? idk but its interesting. anything you guys wanna say about this? :3
Niku Yuni Wip_8/8/26 β Niku Yuni Wip_8/8/26 β Just wanted to sketch up something a little quick, and come back to my current drawnig I'm making on Paintnet, and since I have a bunch of digital art in my backlog on my PC and iPad that need to finish, I might redraw unfinished artworks so it'll reflect my current style. (I'm running out of storage on my Flounder online account so I'm doing this for the time being) I'll still post progress photos on my user page and not on the Art subspace, soβ¦
Are there any non "tech bro" relays? β I kept seeing post here in s/Nostr so I thought I'd check it out. Got the apps, set up my key, found the pub keys for ppl & projects posted here. But when I looked for relays to look at their Global feed its all AI this and Bitcoin that. It is pretty depressing that all the non-Facebook social media has turned into the garbage bin of tech advancements. Does anyone know of relays (paid or not) where everyone talks about anything but AI and crypto?
Rogallo v1.6.0 β I've release Rogallo v1.6.0. New in this release is support for [spartan link] URIs (and the Spartan =: input line type). I've also extended the types of text that can be shown in the viewer, along with syntax-highlighting support of such views, where appropriate. [https link] [gemini link] [spartan link]
I finally finished writing a blog post about how to maintain tech devices. It feels nice to start sharing some of my work again :] I know that the price of buying new technology is unreasonably high right now, so I hope this helps folks who might not know how to keep their devices in good repair.
what's your approach to spellbinding? do you use a pen and paper, or just stare at the letters? also, moosical, what's your secret?
trying to start a gemini server has me feeling like sun-dried spongebob im trynna do this properly, make the keys, certificates, setup the permissions, start the server but i got mogged actually learning the internals of tls which ig isnt that hard on plan 9 but doing this on linux with openssl is pant shittingly hilarious when youve been using plan 9 for a bit and got used to one taks = one program. i also generally missed the indie net so hai hai how are you guyz
If i have a functon like "int function1(...) {}", how to make this function receive an array like "char NOMES_VAR_INT[MAXIMO_VARIAVEIS][10] = {};" as an input?
